Jesus is clear. Evil doesn’t fight against evil. Evil is united in its approach to achieving its goal.
The people of God need to understand the principal of unified focus. We won’t make the impact on the world that God intends us to if we are fighting each other. We must agree on what God has said and is doing in our midst.
God has given us great power. We need to unite in delivering God’s message of good news. If we fight with each other, nothing good will come of that. We must agree on the message of Good News delivered through our Master Jesus, the Messiah.
And Jesus points out that this is a particular problem of the religious community.
We must stop!
The religion scholars from Jerusalem came down spreading rumors that he was working black magic, using devil tricks to impress them with spiritual power. Jesus confronted their slander with a story: “Does it make sense to send a devil to catch a devil, to use Satan to get rid of Satan? A constantly squabbling family disintegrates. If Satan were fighting Satan, there soon wouldn’t be any Satan left. Do you think it’s possible in broad daylight to enter the house of an awake, able-bodied man, and walk off with his possessions unless you tie him up first? Tie him up, though, and you can clean him out. (Mark 3:23-27 The Message)
