Jesus challenges us to not worry. God is God, in complete control and in a good mood.
God will take care of us. God has our best interest at heart. God takes pride in us.
Do I believe that? Does what I say reflect that? Do my actions make it clear to everyone that is my reality? Do I have that understanding deep in my heart?
At our core, we are concerned we are missing out on something. By trusting in God, we are getting everything God wants us to have. We can relax. We can respond to God. We need to focus on who God is, how God takes the initiative in our life to bring his goals to fruition and how much God loves to provide for our needs.
This is tough but it is essential in God’s World (Kingdom).
Here are the key ideas:
- We are important to God. No detail of our life is too small for God.
- God’s goal for us is to relax and focus on God.
- Take time to know God and how God works.
- Spend as much time every day on God, his reality, his initiative and how he provides for us.
If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
