President Ronald Reagan made a speech at the Berlin Wall on June 12, 1990. President Reagan had a vision for liberty in a world that was consumed by communism at the time. President Reagan knew how to articulate the vision simply and convincingly. President Reagan gave the people of the world hope and courage.
General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!
And the wall came down!! Liberty and freedom won.
