Jesus challenges us to change our minds (repent) about how we can get to God. Jesus is clear and explicit. There is no guess work involved here.
Jesus, the Messiah and our Master, is the gate to God, our Father.
Others, including our enemy the Devil, try to deceive us. He lies to us. He tries to steal our joy. He tries to kill us spiritually and keep us from true life through Jesus.
We can’t even dream of the kind of life Jesus provides us. Our ideas are completely inadequate.
God’s goal for us is to go through the gate to get to him and life. Jesus is the gate.
Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about. So he tried again.“I’ll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep. All those others are up to no good—sheep stealers, every one of them. But the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
