I must not be embarrassed. Jesus is my Master. I must speak up for Jesus. I must speak up for his faithful servants as well. Daily Jesus is mocked. Do I stand up for him? Many times I don’t.
I will suffer for standing up for the Messiah Jesus. As faithful followers, we all will suffer. That isn’t a pleasant thought.
I have been given a great gift from God and the power to be faithful from the Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus. My work is holy. God has a goal for me. I can be faithful.
Jesus has done an amazing thing for me. Death has been defeated by his sacrifice. Life is mine. It is all a gift. Nothing I have done to deserve it. Nothing I could do to earn it. A complete gift. It is all about what Jesus has done. It has nothing to do with what I have done.
So don’t be embarrassed to speak up for our Master or for me, his prisoner. Take your share of suffering for the Message along with the rest of us. We can only keep on going, after all, by the power of God, who first saved us and then called us to this holy work. We had nothing to do with it. It was all his idea, a gift prepared for us in Jesus long before we knew anything about it. But we know it now. Since the appearance of our Savior, nothing could be plainer: death defeated, life vindicated in a steady blaze of light, all through the work of Jesus.
