I can’t do anything, in and of myself, to please God. That is difficult to get in my core some days. In a culture of “self-help”, I like to believe I can do it. I just need to be more “self-confident”. I need to think positive.
There is only one way to God. The way to God is through my faith in what Jesus, the Messiah, has done. It is all about God. It has nothing to do with how good I am or how much I try.
God has given me the Holy Spirit to work things out in my life that I could never do myself. God’s goal for me is to believe he will do it. It is all about faith. God is God. God is the one who accomplishes his great work in our life.
Answer this question: Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you? Don’t these things happen among you just as they happened with Abraham? He believed God, and that act of belief was turned into a life that was right with God.
