I have died with the Messiah Jesus. I am free from living a “rule-dominated” life. That way of life is dead as well. I am living a “resurrection life”. My faith brings me into right relationship with God. Jesus made all of this happen. I had nothing to do with it.

I have the old way of death or I have the new way of life. I choose the new way of life.

I was living a “rule-dominated” life. I was not free. I was bound to the habit of missing God’s goal for me. That way of life had me all tied up.

Jesus has called me to freedom. Freedom to love God and love others. That type of liberty is stunning.

So, my friends, this is something like what has taken place with you. When the Messiah died he took that entire rule-dominated way of life down with him and left it in the tomb, leaving you free to “marry” a resurrection life and bear “offspring” of faith for God. For as long as we lived that old way of life, doing whatever we felt we could get away with, missing God’s goal (sin) was calling most of the shots as the old law code hemmed us in. And this made us all the more rebellious. In the end, all we had to show for it was miscarriages and stillbirths. But now that we’re no longer shackled to that domineering mate of missing God’s goal (sin) , and out from under all those oppressive regulations and fine print, we’re free to live a new life in the freedom of God.
