The Depressed Soul’s Cry to God | Biblical Counseling Coalition

There are times I am in the dumps. It happens. It isn’t always pretty but it is true.

  • God gives me a way out.
  • Jesus challenges me to go through everything God has done.
  • In fact, I should rehearse your promises and the love you show to me.

God’s way isn’t my way. God loves me in ways I can’t imagine.

God has made promises. God will not break them.

When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse
    everything I know of you,
From Jordan depths to Hermon heights,
    including Mount Mizar.
Chaos calls to chaos,
to the tune of whitewater rapids.
Your breaking surf, your thundering breakers
    crash and crush me.
Then God promises to love me all day,
sing songs all through the night!
    My life is God’s prayer.
