I can’t do anything on my own. I need Jesus. That is all there is to it. It is all about Jesus.
I don’t have a lot. What can I do to make a difference? I can make an offering of my everyday, boring life, to God.
Where does my power come from? I can embrace what Jesus does for me. That gives me the power of Jesus.
Being “well adjusted” to the culture of my world does no good. Fitting in is useless. There is no point to it.
I must pay attention to God. That is the only thing that matters. What is his goal for me? I must know the answer to that question.
I can be changed from the inside out. It isn’t something I can do on my own. It is something Jesus can do for me. He wants to.
I can recognize what Jesus wants from me. It takes some effort but I can do it.
This is huge. God brings out the best in me, not the worst. Others bring out the worst. I bring out the worst. Not Jesus. That isn’t how he does things.
Jesus makes me mature. That is the goal. That is the end game.
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
