The Apostle Paul is wrapping up his letter to the Ephesians. There are many things we need to do. He has a good summary for me.
- Use every weapon Jesus has given us. We have a lot at our disposal. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation must be applied in my life.
- God’s word is a great weapon. This is his living word and his written word. I can use it against my enemy, the evil one.
- Prayer is not to be ignored. When I am faced with evil, I can talk with God and he will hear me.
- Finally, I am to encourage my brothers and sisters in the Master Jesus. I am to help keep their spirits up.
Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
