Jesus knows what is important. In his death, and then resurrection, he showed us.
- Jesus wasn’t the only one crucified that day. Two others went to the cross that day. Who knows how many would be crucified the day after that and the day after that. It only had meaning in that the Son of God would die for us all.
- Jesus was at the center of it all. Jesus was destined by God to die for us all. Jesus is at the center of it. Being crucified was that unusual. Being the Son of God and being crucified to make up for everyone else missing God’s goal (aka sinning) was the main thing.
- Jesus shows what it is all about — Forgiveness! The whole point was forgiveness. I am forgiven by what Jesus did. You are forgiven by what Jesus did. Now that is some very good news indeed.
Two others, both criminals, were taken along with him for execution.
When they got to the place called Skull Hill, they crucified him, along with the criminals, one on his right, the other on his left.
Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they’re doing.”
