Jesus was on a mission. He wanted everyone to hear the good news (aka the Gospel). He wouldn’t stop until they had the chance. Am I on the same mission? Jesus is moved by the fact they aren’t enough “good news workers”.
As Son of God, Jesus demonstrated his authority by miraculously healing everyone. Jesus is in charge. His good news is not just about words. I need to understand and experience his healing power.
Jesus is moved by the challenge of getting his message out. It breaks his heart. Jesus challenges me to pray for more workers. The world is hungry for good news and the healing of Jesus. I must do my part.
Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!”

My prayer on this is that God would guide me to the next open heart and the next one and the next one. The harvest is indeed plentiful and I want to serve by bringing in one soul at a time. Thanks for this Michael.

This post just led me to pray for my workers for the harvest both in the missions field, in the US and also in my own church. Praying for God to bring more evangelists that would lead people to Christ!
