Jesus has risen from the dead. I guess I could stop with that but there is more. Luke gives us a few snippets of what it was like in the days right after that.

  • The disciples were all confused by what was going on. I get confused as well. I get all distracted discussing what I think is going on. I’ve not heard from God. I just trudge on.
  • Jesus walks up. How often has Jesus come to me to take care of things. Jesus comes to bring light to the dark situation. That is the way Jesus works. He doesn’t leave me to just wander around.
  • Even after Jesus comes, I don’t recognize him. I’m clueless. It happens. Its not pretty, I know.
  • And then … Jesus speaks to me. Eventually my eyes are opened and I know it is Jesus. Now that is good news. I’m left to my own ignorance.

That same day two of them were walking to the village Emmaus, about seven miles out of Jerusalem. They were deep in conversation, going over all these things that had happened. In the middle of their talk and questions, Jesus came up and walked along with them. But they were not able to recognize who he was.

He asked, “What’s this you’re discussing so intently as you walk along?”
