Paul has just given a very lengthy rant on why followers of Jesus shouldn’t file civil claims against one another. He believes that Christians should judge each other and not leave it up to the civil court system.

The big picture summary is that I need to learn the difference between what is legal and what is right in God’s eyes. My judge is Jesus. I need to focus on pleasing him and not pleasing others. The spiritual law is the law of love. Am I loving God? Am I loving everyone I come in contact with? That is God’s goal for me.

I know many times a day I am not showing love. Showing love is what I need to worry about. Whether I am demonstrating love is what I will be judged on.

Jesus is very clear about this in his legacy of his words recorded by 4 of his followers.

“Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims.” ~Apostle Paul
