Jesus had one last thing to say before he ascended into heaven to be in charge of God’s country. Jesus has a mission for us. There is a lot here but Jesus is precise, clear and succinct. Jesus wants us to make disciples of everyone.

We are to go. I am not to sit still. I am to go where Jesus sends me. It all starts with go. It isn’t difficult but it doesn’t happen with out that.

We are to train everyone. My primary role should be to train others. I may have other roles but training is huge. The followers of Jesus want to learn and grow.

There is a way of life that Jesus is clear about. We have summaries of the good news (aka The Gospels) that Jesus imparted to us. In his 3 year ministry, Jesus laid it all out.

Baptism is a mark of our commitment. Baptism is not to be ignored. Jesus instituted it. It demonstrates our understanding that we are buried with Jesus and are now a new creation by sharing his resurrection.

Jesus challenges us to practice the orders (commands) he has given us. There is knowing and there is doing. It is the practice where I learn. The reality of the theory comes into being when I do something.

Jesus will be with us. I have to understand this in my core. Jesus has not abandoned me. Jesus has given me

Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion. The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”
