God has a goal for me and for you. He has one today.
Will I hit the mark? Will I miss His goal (sin) for my life today?
If I do miss it, I have a friend sitting in the presence of God who has never missed it. He took my sin on Himself. He is like a priest advocating for me to God our Father.
Jesus, the Messiah, sits right next to God. He is in right standing with God. God has accepted the sacrifice Jesus made for me. I am accepted.
Jesus has solved the “missing His goal (sin) problem” for good.
Now this is good news for sure. God is in a good mood and accepts me.
“But if anyone does miss God’s goal (sins), we have a Priest-Friend in the presence of the Father: Jesus the Messiah, righteous Jesus.” ~Apostle John

I really liked the graphic here, Michael. I don’t think every body actually gets that is exactly where that word sin came from in the fist place…literally to simply miss the mark, as in archery. If we thought about that, it might hit us as to exactly why we are all sinners. We get ourselves convinced that we really aren’t “that bad,” not realizing what the word actually means. It may involve being “that bad,” and it may not. It may just be missing that mark of God’s perfection which is the bullseye, and missing the mark. Nonetheless, it is all sin which separates us from His Holiness and perfection.

Wally, great insight. I think most people misunderstand what “sin” is. As you say, the Greek word means missing the mark.
I enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for your faithfulness. Be blessed. God is with you.
