Jesus warns us in Matthew 7 where we hear Him say “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing”
Jesus is serious. There won’t be just a few. There are many of them. Their goal is to mislead us. And they are. It is sad.
Again, Jesus warns us!
“Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. This good news of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” ~Jesus | Source: Matthew 24:11-12
How can we tell this is going on? A couple of things Jesus points out to us. First, lawlessness has increased. Of course, we are witnessing this in our culture today. Just remember what is going on with the clear teaching of Jesus and others who proclaim the benefits of the “sexual revolution” or violence. Too many examples abound.
Second, the love for Jesus of Christian’s is growing cold. Witness churches who refuse to open their doors for the homeless and poor. Witness churches who refuse to do anything about the murder of unborn children. In fact, they actually defend and promote it. Witness churches who refuse to stand up for marriage being sacred and between men and women. In fact, they actually defend and promote it. The list here is long. [Note: I discuss these topics at length here.]
What is our job? We are not to back off or shrink away from declaring the good news. Jesus challenges us to endure to the end. Our mission is to proclaim the good news of Jesus being in control (aka the Kingdom of God) to everyone in the world. Jesus is clear. Jesus has given us a great challenge. The followers of Jesus and His glorious church must focus on the goal of Jesus. I must focus on the goal of Jesus.
