Jesus came to complete every task God, His Father, had laid out for Him. Jesus, earlier (John 5:38) had said “These very tasks, as I go about completing them, confirm that the Father, in fact, sent me.”
And so … It is done. It is complete. There is nothing else to do except be raised from the dead, by the power of God and ascend to Heaven. Jesus has now ushered in a new agreement (aka covenant or testament). His blood poured out for us complete that transaction. The blood of Jesus has cleaned me up from all sin. It is done. It is complete.
A jug of sour wine was standing by. Someone put a sponge soaked with the wine on a javelin and lifted it to his mouth. After he took the wine, Jesus said, “It’s done . . . complete.” Bowing his head, he offered up his spirit. | Source: John 19:29-30 (The Message)
Our debt was nailed to the cross along with Jesus, the Messiah. That life we lived is now gone. That debt has been cancelled. That debt has been forgiven. It has been wiped off the books completely. It is done. It is complete.
Jesus died once for all of us, for the just and the unjust. Jesus came because God loves the world and doesn’t want a single soul to be lost. Jesus died for basic challenge that we miss God’s goal for our life (aka sin). It was our nature, before we decided to follow Jesus and believe that Jesus has redeemed us from living that kind of life.
We are buried with Jesus and rise again with Him through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is accomplished through baptism. I have been united with Jesus in death and raised with Jesus to a new life completely. It is done. It is complete. There is nothing lacking. I am dead to sin and alive to God in the Messiah Jesus.

Translated: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”
