Blame God

I’m not asking the right question. I’m looking to blame someone. I know this is directed at me. A judging heart looks for someone to blame. Jesus knows me.

Someone has to be at fault, I think. I know someone caused this to happen. Surely we all know that. Am I the only one who sees it?

Jesus isn’t having any of it. Jesus knows what God can and will do. Jesus does what God wants done and heals the man. Healing is the focus, not blame. Trying to find out who is at fault distracts me from God and His desire to bring healing into the situation.

Is common to see what God isn’t doing as opposed to seeing what God is doing. John the Baptizer (the cousin of Jesus) got into this trap. He was in jail and sent his disciples to Jesus ask if he was the one or should they look for another. Jesus told them “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have the gospel preached to them. Happy is he who does not take offense at Me.” (Luke 7) In other words, go tell John to quit looking at what God isn’t doing and look at what he is doing.

God will be seen to be an AMAZING God. I need to look for Jesus and not for who did what wrong. Jesus is the light. Jesus shows me the way to God’s most beautiful world.

Walking down the street, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked, “Rabbi, who sinned (missed God’s goal): this man or his parents, causing him to be born blind?”

Jesus said, “You’re asking the wrong question. You’re looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over. For as long as I am in the world, there is plenty of light. I am the world’s Light.” | John 9:1-5 (The Message Bible)

God is good. God sent His Son Jesus to be the light of the world. Jesus wants to show the beauty of God and bring healing into existence in my life. I can’t be the same after encountering the healing power of Jesus.

Now that is some good news. That is the real deal. Everything else is false and fake.
