One word. Jesus rebukes the storm. Jesus is in the power of the Holy Spirit, as the Son of God. He knows the power of a command.
That is it. It didn’t take more
A single word.
And … obedience! The goal is obedience.
One day he and his disciples got in a boat. “Let’s cross the lake,” he said. And off they went. It was smooth sailing, and he fell asleep. A terrific storm came up suddenly on the lake. Water poured in, and they were about to capsize. They woke Jesus: “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
Getting to his feet, he told the wind, “Silence!” and the waves, “Quiet down!” They did it. The lake became smooth as glass.
Luke 8:22-24 (The Message Bible)
Nature knows how to obey Jesus. It only takes one word and it does what our Master wants.
Will I respond the same? Will it only take one word with me or do I crave too much attention with lots of explanations as to “why” I should obey?
Jesus says for me to love.
What else do I need to know? Will I be like the wind and the waves?
May it be Yes and more Yes.
