Jesus went to the temple after His triumphant entry into Jerusalem on palm Sunday.
The ecstacy of that moment to the sacrilege of the place that should be devoted to prayer and worship of the Master of the universe.
It’s God’s house! Think of it; selling stuff in God’s house.
Jesus isn’t happy. Jesus isn’t pleased with what is going on.
Jesus went straight to the Temple and threw out everyone who had set up shop, buying and selling. He kicked over the tables of loan sharks and the stalls of dove merchants. He quoted this text: “My house was designated a house of prayer”; you have made it a hangout for thieves. | Matthew 21:12-14 (The Message Bible)
I wonder, am I participating in something similar? Is Jesus upset at what some places of worship have become? Should I speak out?
Most importantly, am I seeing what God is doing and finding a place where God is moving to be a part of?
Is Jesus angry with my involvement? Am I content with thinking that was then but not concerned what is going on now?
Amen! I feel like many churches/ministries are more like businesses, attempting to sell Christ himself.
