Jesus is on a roll. Jesus is making sure everyone knows what is going on with the religious elites. They wanted to arrest him. Eventually they would and they would kill him.

It was all a part of the plan of God.

The Kingdom of God is being established. Jesus wants us to know what it will be like.

Jesus tells stories (parables) to make the point.

When the religious leaders heard this story, they knew it was aimed at them. They wanted to arrest Jesus and put him in jail, but, intimidated by public opinion, they held back. Most people held him to be a prophet of God.

Jesus responded by telling still more stories. “God’s kingdom,” he said, “is like a king who threw a wedding banquet for his son. He sent out servants to call in all the invited guests. And they wouldn’t come! | Matthew 21:45-46 – Matthew 22:1-3

God is calling us to a great party for His Son Jesus. God invites us all. At the party in this story, the invited guest refused to come. They shrugged their shoulders and went off, one to weed his garden, another to work in his shop. Busy. Way too busy.

But more than that. Contempt! Disdain!

Imagine!

Will I come or will I be too busy?

Will I give up my “to do” list and listen to God?

Will I?
