Victory in Jesus

Why do I give others a hard time? Why do I get furious with them? What have they done to deserve it? Who am I putting a show on for? Do I think Jesus is going to be impressed with this?

The disciples are furious. Jesus knows what is going on behind the anger.The disciples just don’t get it. I don’t get it either. Sometimes what Jesus does just befuddles me. I jump to conclusions about others. I don’t see that they are honoring Jesus.

When Jesus realized what was going on, he intervened. “Why are you giving this woman a hard time? She has just done something wonderfully significant for me. You will have the poor with you every day for the rest of your lives, but not me. When she poured this perfume on my body, what she really did was anoint me for burial. You can be sure that wherever in the whole world the Message is preached, what she has just done is going to be remembered and admired. | Matthew 26:10-13

Jesus gets it. Jesus sees the why of what I am doing. That is all that matters.

Jesus knows that he is being anointed for burial. Jesus knows what is coming soon. He has told the disciples about it many times. This isn’t a mystery to anyone.

I need to see what Jesus is seeing. That is the challenge. That is God’s goal for me. That is the important thing for today. What is Jesus seeing?
