God is ready, willing and able to give me wisdom. God makes it clear and is plain spoken. There is no great mystery. I don’t have to wallow in ignorance. Not at all. That is the good news we all have.
Wisdom is a gift. It doesn’t cost me a single thing. Jesus speaks and makes clear the path of life for all of us. We have the Holy Spirit to interpret what seems confusing to us.
And here’s why: God gives out Wisdom free, is plain spoken in knowledge and understanding. He’s a rich mine of Common Sense for those who live well, a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere. He keeps his eye on all who live honestly, and pays special attention to his loyally committed ones. | Proverbs 2:6-8 (The Message Bible)
James puts it bluntly: “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God — who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly — and it will be given to him.” Christian Standard Bible. (2017). (Jas 1:5)
When I am confused, whose problem is that? Have I asked for wisdom? God is in a good mood and will give me the real skinny on what is going on. God is generous. PERIOD!
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart, and you have not requested riches, wealth, or glory, or for the life of those who hate you, and you have not even requested long life, but you have requested for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are given to you. I will also give you riches, wealth, and glory, unlike what was given to the kings who were before you, or will be given to those after you.” 13 So Solomon went to Jerusalem from the high place that was in Gibeon in front of the tent of meeting, and he reigned over Israel. | Christian Standard Bible. (2017). (2 Ch 1:11–13).
Those who earnestly seek heavenly wisdom, will never complain that they have lost their labour; and the freeness of the gift does not do away the necessity of our diligence, John 6:27.
Let me seek, and I shall find it; let me ask, and it shall be given me. Observe who are favoured. They are the righteous, on whom the image of God is renewed, which consists in righteousness. If we depend upon God, and seek to him for wisdom, he will enable us to keep the paths of judgment.
Now that is a good word!
