I have to stay on top of things. I need focus. I can’t wander off. It can be a challenge.
The teaching that Jesus wants delivered needs to stay on track. That is the most important thing.
I need to be on guard against people who introduce fantasy stories into the good news of Jesus.
What Jesus wants is clear. Jesus left us a legacy of the radical way he calls on us to think and act. It doesn’t need to be added to. The words of Jesus stand on their own.
I will not digress into silliness. My job is to pull back to the main thing about the main thing. I need to focus on deepening my faith. I need to take seriously obedience to my Master Jesus. That is it. What does Jesus want me to do?
The mission today is to simply love. That is it. Love God and love everyone else I meet and know. This love can’t be contaminated with my own self interest. It can’t be a counterfeit faith. It must be a love that is open to God. It is way too easy to wander away from that.
Without love, I wander off. I find myself in a cul-de-sac. Gossip becomes more important than the reality of Jesus.
I am not an expert on religious issues. I struggle to understand many of them. I see others with their great eloquence and writing abilities. It is imposing.
I am not that person. I have to focus on what I can do.
What is that?
Learn to love.
