God’s mercy

I must be very careful. Am I bragging about evil? Of course not! Really? Do I think I am a “big man”? Am I a know it all? Am I focused on mercy and not judgement?

Why do you brag of evil, “Big Man”? God’s mercy carries the day. You scheme catastrophe; your tongue cuts razor-sharp, artisan in lies. You love evil more than good, you call black white. You love malicious gossip, you foul-mouth.  ~King David | Psalm 52:1-4 (The Message Bible)

Why boast about evil, you hero! – Boasting is not a good thing in God’s eyes. I am to be humble. I am to esteem others higher than myself. Jesus calls on me to think of others first.

God’s faithful love is constant. – My focus should be on God and his goodness. God is love. God is faithful to me. I am commanded to love (God and my neighbors). That is it. I am protected by God’s loyal love all the time.

God’s love is stable. It is constant. I can count on God to be in a good mood, every minute of every day.

Like a sharpened razor, your tongue devises destruction, working treachery. – Here is a big deal. What I say is hurtful. It is like a razor. It cuts others to the core. It doesn’t make much noise, but it cuts deeply. It is deadly. Yikes. I know it is true. I need the power of God’s Holy Spirit to work a change in my life.

You love evil instead of good – Is my focus on good? Do I really care? Is it showing?

lying instead of speaking truthfully – Not speaking the truth is lying. Now that is a revelation. It is lying by omission. How often does that happen? Way too much I am afraid. I must speak up for truth.

You love any words that destroy, your treacherous tongue! – It is an interesting exercise to look at the actual words I use. Are they words of mercy and grace? Do they bring life to others?
