There are many brothers and sisters, disciples of Jesus, that are laboring to bring the good news message of Jesus to the world. They are working hard. They really get nothing to speak of for doing it. It is tough work.
Am I being hospitable to them?
Am I showing the right kind of love? Do they know I care and appreciate what they do?
Do I show it even when they are strangers and I don’t know them?
God challenges me to show my faith that way. I am to be hospitable. That is God’s goal for me.
When they report back to their churches, will I be in that report? Will my love be extolled as an example to other disciples?
I must be about the good work helping travelers on their way, hospitality worthy of God himself! They set out under the banner of the Name of Jesus, and get no help from unbelievers. So they deserve any support I can give them. In providing meals and a bed, I become their companions in spreading the Truth. Now that is some very good news. I am helping Jesus, not them.
You write as though you are living in the bronze age because travellers do not travel under any recognizable banner or broadcast their beliefs these days and in fact there are less Christians than ever, especially fundamentalist types. Atheists and unbelievers of Christianity do not help anyone, particularly Christians that much is clear from your statement, quite judgemental of you regarding they are the majority of the people on the planet that you do not understand and by all accounts will not want to understand.
I do not mean to be rude but the only reason I can see that you will help anyone who is a Christian traveller is so you can lecture and preach your version of Christian ideology to them, and I guess this is much safer than approaching non-Christians, particularly atheists.
