Prayer

I call on God. I plead with God to listen to me. I don’t just whisper. I shout it out loud. I lament and beg God to listen.

The good news is that God does bend an ear to my prayer. That is stunning imagery. I see God lean in and listen really hard. God wants to hear what I have to say.

God gives a place to get away from it all. I have access to God’s safe house. It is available to me any time. I am God’s guest.

God, listen to me shout, bend an ear to my prayer. When I’m far from anywhere, down to my last gasp, I call out, Guide me up High Rock Mountain! You’ve always given me breathing room, a place to get away from it all, A lifetime pass to your safe-house, an open invitation as your guest. You’ve always taken me seriously, God, made me welcome among those who know and love you.” | Psalm 61:1-2 (The Message Bible)

God takes our prayers very seriously. We are welcome to come into the presence of God. Jesus is our advocate for what we need. We get to hang out with all the others who know and love God. That is stunning news. God is bending His ear to hear what we have to say.
