Sleep
Some nights I don’t sleep as well as I would like. How do I use the time? Worrying? Tossing and turning?
Or do I spend the hours in thoughtful reflection of how good God is to me?
I eat my fill of prime rib and gravy; I smack my lips. It’s time to shout praises! If I’m sleepless at midnight, I spend the hours in grateful reflection. Because you’ve always stood up for me, I’m free to run and play. I hold on to you for dear life, and you hold me steady as a post. | Psalm 63:5-8 (The Message Bible)
King David shows the right path here. God is in a good mood. God always stands up for me. God holds me steady.
That is just the way God is. That is His very nature.
I should focus my time on what God is doing versus worrying about what He isn’t.
Thanks, Michael. Recently, my wife and I have been camped out on John 5:17, “But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.” God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are working, working, working continuously. That fact gives me peace.

Oh my brother you have offered me a worthy challenge here. Sleeplessness is all too frequent the older I get. Now I will try to turn that important time into a prayerful time of “grateful reflection.” Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I am a terrible sleeper and I have learned to recount who God is and what He has done. Thank you for sharing this!

If I can’t sleep I can be pretty sure there is someone or something I need to be praying about.

I keep telling my wife who has sleep problems that sometimes having a clear conscious is the key. to sweet sleep?
Apparently sleep was a problem in King Solomon’s time for rich old guys according to this verse.
The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. (Ecclesiastes 5:12)

you provoked us to think and take note of our thoughts and how we perceive what God is doing with us and to us and through us.
