How tender and compassionate is Jesus? Why does Jesus weep?

I think this is the most precious verse in the scripture.

Jesus wept!

Jesus cried. Jesus sobbed.

It is clear that Jesus loves. That is how Jesus rolls. God is love. Jesus is love. They are in a good mood. They want us to be whole and holy.

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled, and said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus wept. So the Jews were saying, “See how He loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have kept this man also from dying?” So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, came to the tomb.  | John 11:33–36 (NASB)

And then there is more. The word for “deeply moved” is ἐμβριμάομαι (ĕmbrimaŏmai). It means to snort with anger/ to have indignation on, i.e. to blame, to sigh with chagrin, to sternly enjoin, straitly charge, groan, murmur against.

In other words, Jesus was mighty upset that Lazarus was dead! And Jesus did something about it. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

Consider the tenderness of Jesus the Messiah. Everywhere we turn, Jesus is moved and full of compassion. Jesus shows the goodness of God in everything He does. Day in and day out. Nothing but tenderness from our Master, the Messiah.

See how Jesus treats the children.

Mark 10:16 (NASB) — And Jesus took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.

Look at the love Jesus shows to the lost and vulnerable.

Matthew 9:36 (NASB) — Seeing the people, Jesus felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.

Jesus is moved to heal us.

Matthew 14:14 (NASB) — When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.

Jesus wants to protect us.

Matthew 23:37 (NASB) — “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.”

Jesus wants to restore us and cleanse us.

Mark 1:41 (NASB) — Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Jesus wants us to take care of each other.

John 19:26–27 (NASB) — When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.
