Jesus get’s constantly criticized by the religious elite of His day. They didn’t like who Jesus was hanging out with.
There is good news that Jesus came to save us, sinners (aka someone who misses God’s goal). Jesus seeks us out. Jesus wants to sit down and eat with us. Jesus wants to sit down and eat with you.
Criticism of Jesus the Messiah’s choice of company: Who will we seek out to tell the good news of Jesus to? Is our message for the religious elites or those who need God? Will we be criticized for who we are hanging out with? Are they the “wrong people”? Are they the broken hearted, the sick, the homeless, the poor?
Jesus wants to know!
- Matthew 9:11 — When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?”
- Luke 7:39 — Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.”
- Luke 19:7 — When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

Thankful that Jesus seeks us out, wants to spend time with us, and shows us the better Way. The Lord be with you today and every day!

When we reach people who are sinners we shouldn’t be surprised that “sinners of sinners” would come to Christ…and need to be ministered to. Plus we are to go out there to share the Word with all people and the down and outers!
