Created in the image of God
What does God want of me? What is His goal for me? Many of us go through life not knowing the answer. God is good. God gives us the answer. It isn’t a mystery at all.
Here is a simple but profound reality. God is love. God loves the world and us personally. God’s directive to us is to love Him and to love each other.
That is it. Everything can be wrapped up in that goal. That is our focus for today and tomorrow. It won’t change. It has been that way from the beginning. That is why God created us.
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
English Standard Version. (2016). (Genesis 1:27). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
God is love. We know that. We need to get in our heart that we are made in the image of God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can love.
Human life was created in (literally, “as,” meaning “in essence as”) the image of God. This image was imparted only to humans. “Image” (ṣelem) is used figuratively here, for God does not have a human form. This challenges us to think through the attributes of God.
Being in God’s image means that humans share, though imperfectly and finitely, in God’s nature, that is, in His communicable attributes (life, personality, truth, wisdom, love, holiness, justice), and so have the capacity for spiritual fellowship with Him.
Thankful that we have the example of Jesus who is our perfect role model for doing what God wants from us. Have a blessed day!

Love how you brought together the truth that God is Creator, God is love and therefore we should and therefore our purpose is to love others and God.
