Sometimes our worst fears come true. It really was cancer. We did go broke. We were homeless and living in our car. We were fired from our job. We fear all of these things. They do happen.
Most of the time my fears do not materialize. My family loves me and supports me. I’ve had work most of my life. The cancer did not kill me. I have a place to live. I am not hungry. I have plenty of clothes to wear. I got up this morning and live to tell the story.
Jesus has not ever abandoned me. This list of His faithfulness is much longer than the one of fears that have happened. We have a choice today. Will we see what God is doing or complain about what God isn’t doing?
It is a stunning day in paradise. That isn’t a fear, but it is reality.
God is in a good mood and shows me His love through it all. Always. Never fails. Completely trustworthy.
-
- God has not given us a spirit of fear.
- Jesus gives us power.
- Jesus gives us love.
- Jesus gives us discipline to persevere.
Now that is worth a happy dance! As my friend Fred would say:
Yabba Dabba Doo!
Its true that we often think our situation is worst than they are; and in hindsight we can see the situation better and also how Jesus did not abandon us!

Isn’t it wonderful we live in a time so advanced in treating cancer? My sister passed of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2002 and my adopted step-brother received treatment and is living cancer free after more than 5 years in remission. I recently received the results of the biopsy of a growth on my leg that was malignant squamous cell carcinoma. I have great hopes it has been caught early. I have surgery on the 22nd.
