For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.” ~Jesus

Source: Matthew 15:19 (NASB)

Evil is real. Evil leads to murder. Jesus is the only solution for evil. Jesus taught us to pray “deliver us from evil.”

Jesus did not ask us to petition the government for better laws. Nothing wrong with that but we need to be on our knees praying for deliverance.

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?” (Matthew 9:4)

Again, thinking evil is the problem.

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart.

(Matthew 13:19)

The Kingdom of God is led by Jesus and not by the evil one. If you understand that Jesus is in control and act consistent with that belief, evil cannot have its way with you.

Murderers do not understand the Kingdom and let evil have its way in their heart. We mourn for the families devastated by the evil. We pray for the murderers. It is not too late for them. Jesus wants to redeem and deliver them from evil.

At that very time Jesus cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits.

This is very instructive. Who is the devil?

You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” ~Jesus

(John 8:34)

In the book of Jude (verses 5 to 16), we receive a strong warning. I am not sure why the devil and the archangel Michael were fighting over the body of Moses. They were. Michael won. He did not go on a rant. He called on our Master Jesus to rebuke the devil.

Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. 9But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!

This re-enforces our pray: Deliver us from evil.

In Ephesians 6:11 we get some great advice from Paul.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

And some great encouragement from the author of Hebrews (2:14).

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, Jesus Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.

And even more from John.

The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8

Jesus is the solution.

And so, I pray, deliver us from evil.
