We love to eat fruit. We love fruit and juice. It gives us nourishment and refreshes us. May we relish the fruit of the Holy Spirit and joy that it brings in our lives.

If I do not have joy I need to check with Jesus and figure out what is going on. Something is wrong. I need to radically change my mind (aka repent) and see life the way Jesus does. I need the power of the Holy Spirit to produce joy in my heart.

Jesus teaches us about God’s country where He is the King. It is a spiritual place. It has nothing to do with “eating and drinking”. My focus should be on spiritual and kingdom attributes like righteousness, peace, love, and joy. I must accept the work of the Holy Spirit in my life. It is an imperative of Jesus.

What is the result and benefit of believing and following Jesus? I will have the joy of the Master in my life, heart, and soul. It will spill out. Others will see it and know of the power of God. The Holy Spirit makes it so. It is not anything I do or even deserve. It is a gift.

  • Galatians 5:22 — But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
  • Romans 14:17 — For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
  • Romans 15:13 — Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
