Faith

Who do I trust? When I need help, who do I call? If I need some money to get me through a rough spot, who do I see?

  • I trust in friends.
  • I trust my family.
  • I care what the latest celebrity, sports figure or politician thinks about something.

God’s goal for me is that I trust in Jesus, my Master. Jesus is in control God’s country. Jesus is in charge. Jesus is the only one who knows me well enough to prescribe the right solution.

The first thing I should always do is call on God to see what his plans are. Nothing else matters.

Out of my distress I called on Yahweh [the Lord]; the Lord answered me and set me free. Yahweh [the Lord] is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?   Yahweh [the Lord] is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in Yahweh [the Lord] than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in Yahweh [the Lord] than to trust in princes. [1]

Strong faith commended and encouraged

Where should we place our faith and trust? We have hordes of politicians, celebrities and religious charlatans wanting to be trusted. Warning: We should not. We must trust in Jesus.

  • Hebrews 10:22 — 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
  • Matthew 8:10 — 10 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel.
  • Matthew 9:20–22 — 20 And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; 21 for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well.” 22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well.
  • Matthew 15:28 — 28 Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.
