Jesus is put out with the Pharisees. Jesus points them and us to the Bible. I’m afraid our church leaders are not serving us well and are deceiving God’s people by pretending something that God did (make us male and female) isn’t true. There is a lot to unpack here considering what is going on in our society and culture.
What is up with the religious leaders?
I guess the same question could be asked today. The Bible is clear. Jesus is clear. We have all kind of religious leaders (and churches) today still with confusion about marriage and now transgender-ism.
What about same-sex marriage?
That wasn’t the question but Jesus is adamant that marriage is between a man and a woman. There really is no other way to read this.
What about divorce?
Jesus, here and in a few other places, states that divorce is only appropriate for adultery. The sexual union, created by God, can’t be undone. God’s goal for us is one of unity between a man and a woman.
What about transgender-ism?
God created us male and female. Jesus states there are only two sexes. That is it.
One day the Pharisees were badgering him: “Is it legal for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?” Jesus answered, “Haven’t you read in your Bible that the Creator originally made man and woman for each other, male and female? And because of this, a man leaves father and mother and is firmly bonded to his wife, becoming one flesh—no longer two bodies but one. Because God created this organic union of the two sexes, no one should desecrate his art by cutting them apart.”

Straight forward and too the point. Well done, and blessings for being willing to state this plainly, Michael

It doesn’t take a rocket scientists to figure this one out. A lot of ‘confused’ people out there and sadly this includes many within the church.

Sadly so. Here is some satire you might appreciate.

I read it. Too bad, it is mostly true.

I was funny, but too true.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that scripture supports the divine image created in male and females. Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. I also believe that both the letter and the Spirit of the Word speaks to broken covenants.
