Doubt and Jesus

Am I a doubter? If I am honest, yes, there are times I doubt. So did some of the 11 disciples. They all went on to serve Jesus in a mighty way. Thomas, while famous for being “a doubter” wasn’t the only one. John the Baptizer, the cousin of Jesus, had doubts.

Do I hold back? Of course I do. Some times I refuse to be clear about who Jesus is. Afterward, I kick myself. I am ashamed. Jesus uses it as a way for me to learn to be a better disciple. The power of the Holy Spirit always convicts me.

Will I worship Jesus? That becomes the real question. I get to choose. I will worship Jesus. He is the Son of God, sent to earth, born of a virgin, died for my sins, resurrected to an incorruptible body, and ascended to heaven to sit in authority next to God. Even with my doubts, I will worship Him!

Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion. The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally. | Matthew 28:16-17

There is good news! Consider Thomas, the doubter. Thomas, after He saw the resurrected Jesus, said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Or, consider Peter. After walking on water with Jesus, he took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink. Jesus rescued him. Jesus said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” After they got back in the boat, those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Doubt leads to worship!
