There are matters of the heart and there are matters of faith. There are many things in my heart that I want to do. They are based on what I want. There is a better way.

When we start with faith, the Lord brings the matters of the heart to His good conclusion. He cares that good comes from our plans. Supernatural courage comes from Him to step out with pure motives.

May I commit to the Lord everything I do. May He establish my plans.

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Yahweh [the Lord]. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but Yahweh [the Lord] weighs the spirit. Commit your work to Yahweh [the Lord], and your plans will be established.[1]

Proverbs 16:1-3

Most of us have dreams and goals that we want to achieve in life. We may have a vision of what we want to do, where we want to go, or who we want to become. But sometimes, we face challenges, obstacles, or uncertainties that make us doubt ourselves or our plans. How can we overcome these difficulties and pursue our purpose with confidence and joy? The answer is to commit our work to the Lord.

What does it mean to commit our work to the Lord? It means to dedicate everything we do to Him, to seek His will and guidance, and to trust Him with the outcome. It means to acknowledge that He is the source of our abilities, opportunities, and resources, and to give Him the glory for all that we accomplish. It means to align our plans with His purposes, and to submit to His sovereignty over our lives.

When we commit our work to the Lord, we can expect several benefits:

  • We will have peace and assurance that He is in control and working for our good.
  • We will have wisdom and direction from His Word and His Spirit.
  • We will have strength and power from His grace and presence.
  • We will have success and fruitfulness according to His standards and timing.

How can we practically commit our work to the Lord? Here are some steps we can take:

  • Pray before, during, and after every task or project, asking for His guidance, help, and blessing.
  • Study His Word and apply His principles and commands to our work.
  • Seek His counsel and confirmation through other believers, mentors, or leaders.
  • Offer Him our best efforts and excellence, as if working for Him and not for men.
  • Thank Him for every opportunity, achievement, and lesson learned.
  • Share His love and truth with others through our work.

Committing our work to the Lord is not a one-time act, but a daily habit. It is not a formula for success, but a relationship of trust. It is not a burden, but a privilege. As we commit our work to the Lord, we will experience His presence, provision, and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. And we will see His plans established in us and through us, for His glory and our good.
