Why this is important: There are those who are intent on giving us bad advice. It is intentional. The problem is our desire to listen to them.
God’s goal: God wants us to listen to him. That is the goal. That will keep us safe and secure.
Good news: God loves us and wants us to live a full and enriched life. God has warned us “men who plot evil” and “give wicked advice”.
- Proverbs 12:5 (CSB) — 5 The thoughts of the righteous are just, but guidance from the wicked is deceitful.
- Job 21:16 (CSB) — 16 But their prosperity is not of their own doing. The counsel of the wicked is far from me!
- Psalm 1:1 (CSB) — 1 How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers!

Jesus Quotes and God Thoughts 
Thanks for this. Yes, the counsel of the unsaved is based upon sinful, self-centered thinking (e.g., Do unto others before they do unto you, He who dies with the most toys wins, Whatever makes you happy is fine, etc.). As believers, we serve God and must be wary of worldly advice.

We need to check the source of advice that we hear. And question why we are eager to hear human advice.

My goal is to just share what works or doesn’t work, how I do or don’t things for me and let the other person decide for themselves what to do with the information I present. I’m sure I come across sometimes as I think my way is better, but I try not to, but, alas, I am human and not exhibiting Christ 100% of the time. Always room to learn more, right?
