We know this but forget it. The church, that is a building, didn’t exist for Jesus and his followers.
What was the church? The Greek word is ekklesia. Essentially it means to be called out for an assembly. It does not refer to a building.
- What does that mean to me all these years later?
- Don’t I go to church?
It means that my brothers and sisters and I are the church. We are called to be the body of Jesus to the people of this world.
I, Paul, am a prisoner for the sake of the Messiah, here with my brother Timothy. I write this letter to you, Philemon, my good friend and companion in this work—also to our sister Apphia, to Archippus, a real trooper, and to the church that meets in your house. God’s best to you! The Messiah’s blessings on you!
